Celeste tiene el corazón roto cuando su abuela muere, pero todo cambia cuando llega una misteriosa carta por correo: ¡de parte de su abuela! "Sé que me extrañas tanto como yo te extraño. No estés triste. Donde hay amor, no hay tristeza". A medida que continúan llegando cartas del más allá, cada una con una receta de la comida favorita que solía preparar su abuela, Celeste se consuela aprendiendo a cocinar los platos. Mientras tanto en su casa la familia está pasando por una situación difícil sin el cheque del seguro social de la abuela.
